The Pokemon spaceship was a daft idea by Sean and myself to use the remains of my sons Pokemon rocket and turn it into somthing different to fly on the mdoel field at the IRW events.
The Spaceship was turned on a lathe by Sean out of pink foam and sprayed silver. We put in two cantered 24mm motor mounts so that it would spin on take off. 2 x D12 or E9 motors could be used. Pokemon's head was cut off and put underneath a clear plastic salad bowl. The underside of the spaceship had a CD to reflect the flame of teh motors and protect the foam from the flames at take off.
Quick match was used to link the motors to ensure they ignited at the same time. The spaceship was so light it did not need a parachute, but 'sort of' floated back to the earth (with a bounce or two)
It had quite a few flights before it's fatal last flight at the IRW 2000 event where motor failure caused it to catch fire. Some still images are given below.
